003: Belize 🇧🇿 Rum 2006, 14 Years, 65.6%
Nose: dried figs and dates and raisins as top notes; cherries; toasted coconut; quite a bit of funk underneath; syrup;
Palate: the mouthfeel is thick and heavy -- cola with baking spices; golden syrup; liquorice sticks; roasted marshmallows dipped in chocolate; molasses; grilled sugarcane; something cake-y and toasted, maybe a Belgian waffle; the back-palate is menthol, with accents of stewed apples.
Finish: cooking gas and varnish; spectacle lens cleaning solution; notes of Christmas cake and toffee; herbal liqueurs follows. The aftertaste has some notes of liquorice, sarsaparilla, as well as a metallic tinge that reminds me of a St Lucia rum.
