TASTING NOTES

Nose: Vibrant aromas of passion fruit, mango, and papaya lead, accompanied by a soft meadow-like grassiness and sweet grain. A touch of honeyed biscuit provides a comforting foundation.

Palate: The mouthfeel is exceptionally silky, delivering a lush progression of tropical fruit salad and vanilla custard. A light peppery spice develops towards the mid-palate, cutting through the sweetness.

Finish: Long and bright, concluding with a burst of citrus zest and a lingering creamy sweetness. The final impression is clean, uplifting, and beautifully fruited with exotic notes.

As we wrap up Year 1: Foundation Year, Malt, Grain & Cane proudly launches Year 2 along with the Curated Range—our new artist-collaboration series. We begin with a privately commissioned piece by @WarrenKhong from his Portrait series, created for @HampdenPirate.

The series explores the extremes of beauty pursuit through facial “enhancements,” but this artwork twists the theme: what if a third party obsessively pursues beauty for someone else? The title Saudade 我紫在乎你 cleverly reworks Teresa Teng’s classic 我只在乎你 by swapping “only” (只) with “purple” (紫)—homophones in Chinese—blending nostalgia, longing, and bittersweet emotion.

The piece incorporates a heart-shaped symbol replacing the subject’s birthmark and a red Tsubaki (Camellia Japonica) flower in the hair.

This scentless Japanese bloom flowers quietly and elegantly from winter to spring, shedding petals without fanfare after 4–5 months. Its red variant symbolizes love, passion, and desire, perfectly echoing Saudade’s mix of joyful memory and melancholic acceptance that the past cannot return—urging one to embrace the future instead.
