TASTING NOTES

Nose: Brimming with "hogo" funk—overripe bananas, pineapple skins, and solvent notes. Underlying aromas of baking spices and dark sugar provide a rich, sweet contrast to the fermentation notes.

Palate: Intense and warming, the palate is a concentrate of tropical fruits and sharp woody spices. It possesses a heavy, oily texture that coats the mouth with notes of molasses and ginger.

Finish: Long and fiery, with a persistent ester fruitiness and a drying oak spice. It leaves a powerful and unforgettable Jamaican signature that evolves into sweet tobacco and coffee.

This artwork cleverly exploits the visual and semantic flexibility of Chinese characters through a pun on the common word 青年 (qīngnián), meaning "youth" or "young person." The first character 青 (qīng) evokes ideas of "youthful," "green," "blue-green," or "young/vital" (as in the ancient etymology linking 青 to fresh growth or the color of youthful vigor). The second character 年 (nián) means "year" or "age."

The core visual/wordplay twist lies in replacing the second character (年) with other homophonous or visually similar characters, dramatically shifting the meaning while keeping the first character fixed—creating a series of layered, humorous, or poignant reinterpretations of "youth." This highlights how Chinese two-character compounds can transform radically with a single swap, playing on homophones (same sound, different meaning), near-homophones, or deliberate character substitution for ironic or creative effect.
